Emily Candela, artist, writer and research assistant and I, printmaker, began to play around with the idea of turning an ongoing conversation about the supposed social use of art into an article in September 2009. We wanted to slow down the reading of a text by adding images, and after thoughts in the way of mimicking our conversation in real time, although transposed to text.
We exchanged the text, and added our parts, then pulled the interview back together again.
It was supposed to have been published as such- raw, rough and messy with the images. In a way- breathing, being of art rather than a text on art, and an artful life. ( as below in the blog)

It is not so easy, this writing balancing between the autoethnographic, writing vulnerably while developing a scholarly language.
Iris de Leeuw comments: ” What you are doing in your honorable practice unfolding step by step this very practice is fascinating although the writing is sometimes a little hard for me to understand completely. It takes a while to get your language and thats a bit weird because you are so crystal clear in your talking and my english is not so bad after all. But its just if you use a format for ‘official’ writing in a court instead of letting go that pattern and lift the veil for communication.- Maybe because your texts seem to be filled with caution making it harder to respond spontaneously.”
I agree! So watch this space.

My practice is a moral dilemma. What use are the arts, and what use is this blog?
All I know, is that I need to communicate, at large.
Writing, to tell a story of worth is a shift in to a linear, discursive form while attempting to link a questioning narrative to images. Ideas that look so tempting in bullet points, die transposed in sentences,
suffocated by syntax.
